Pharmaceutics

Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with the process of turning a new chemical entity (NCE)into a medication to be used safely and effectively by patients. It is also called the science of dosage form design. Pharmaceutics helps relate the formulation of drugs to their delivery and disposition in the body. The Under Graduate Programme (B. Pharm.), Post graduate Programme (M. Pharm.) & Ph. D. students get exposure of Pharmaceutical technology, Pharmaceutical dosage forms etc. In course work, emphasis is given tounderstand fundamental concept underlying these subject areas.

Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Pharmaceutical Chemistry deals with synthesis, characterization and analysis of drugs. The department focuseson both basic science and Clinical interest in Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Products, Drug Discovery, AnalyticalChemistry, Computational Chemistry etc. The responsibilities of the quality of medicine include both responsibilities of quality control and quality assurance department. Quality assurance is the action of giving proof required to set up quality in work.

Pharmacology

Pharmacology is one of the important subjects which deal with detailed study of drugs particularly their actions on living beings, organs or tissues. It includes allied topics like Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacokinetics, Therapeutics, Toxicology, Chemotherapy, Thus, Pharmacology is an important subject which connects pharmacy to medical sciences. Pharmacologists also teach other subjects like Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology. Various pharmacological activities are carried out using simulation software like Experiments in Pharmacology as per guidance by MSBTE.

Pharmacognosy

Pharmacognosy lab is now equipped with high brand microscopes for the detail study of crude drugs. Display of various photographs of crude drugs available.Practical books are made available to the students inside the lab during their practical hours free of cost. Departmental library facility is erected for the staff and students in the laboratory especially of reference books. Crude drug specimen museum is displayed so as to study the drugs in detail in to its natural form. Several soft copies of books like Charak and SushrutSamhita are made available for reference to students for their project works.

Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy

Clinical pharmacy is a health science discipline in which pharmacists provide patient care that optimizes medication therapy and promotes health, and disease prevention. The practice of clinical pharmacy conferences embraces the philosophy of pharmaceutical care, blending a caring orientation with specialized therapeutic knowledge, experience, and judgment to ensure optimal patient outcomes. As a discipline, clinical pharmacy also has an obligation to contribute to the generation of new knowledge that advances health and quality of life. Hospital pharmacy is a specialization of this field that includes additional duties such as aiding doctors in applying drug therapy. The statements were developed by the profession to bring uniformity to the practice of hospital pharmacy.
